Ensivaikutelmia / First Impressions V/9

A series of night street portraits about the uncertain feeling of making a first acquaintance with a stranger.

Each photo in this series has been taken during around midnight, from 11PM to 1AM. I tried to search for locations that would make the subject small, and to emphasize the feeling of being alone in the night.

I utilized the harsh vertical lighting of various street lamps and their ability to hide the person's face in the shadows on each portrait to create an ominous atmosphere of unfamilirity. It's very fascinating to realize how hiding a person's face flips the whole athmosphere upside-down. The story of the photo changes altogether.
