Yes, I know, the planet is small. :lmao:

But that's due to the fact that it's actually a photo of my hometown Oulu wrapped around it. And Oulu isn't the biggest of cities : )

Things that are clearly visible on the surface of the planetoid:

Starting from 9 o'clock clockwise:
Merikoski water power plant

1 o'clock:
Some big white apartment building near Kasarmintie with the science park Tietomaa behind it.

2:30:
Smoke coming out of the Stora Enso paper factory (check out the tall pipes with warning lights next to it).

7 o'clock:
Raati stadium lights (they're turned off I'm afraid ; )

8:30:
The 'floating' apartment buildings of Toivoniemi

This is more like the Planetoid thing i posted earlier but this time I used a different photo and managed to do this a bit better. If you want, check out the previous version at: [link]

I hope you like this, this is my first attempt at really painting digitally (sure, there are photos involved too). I wish I had a drawing tablet, this was so much fun even with a mouse.

Enjoy!

=O The texture of the planet is very realistic and the town wrapped around it makes a really cool effect. Also the choice of background adds a very nice atmosphere. Great job!

Thanks..! I wonder if I can remember the whole process. : ) I took a photo I had taken of the cityscape around Oulu river and wrapped it around a photo of the Moon I had. I tried to follow *AquaSixios good tutorials on how to paint clouds and stuff but ended up then making my own interpretation. : )
