“Curtains are closed in my dimly lit home. The fabric lets through a faint, red glow. A single ray of light invades the room and brands my hair as I sit on the bed. Time slows down, and the air feels heavy. As I stay still, I hold my breath, but below the surface, I lack direction. Concern curls my shoulders forward, almost tying them in knots; to hide me in plain sight.”

Outside, hesitant light behind a single window gives a pale accent to the concrete wall of a silent block of flats. Elsewhere, the front door opens, and a beam of light rushes out, surrendering to the color of the world.

Phew, what an amazing ride. This series is an allegory of the turbulent history of Poland and the oppressing feeling of living an ideological lie in a world you don't feel you belong to. It was partially inspired by John Carpenter's scifi movie "Starman", and shot in the beginning of April in Warsaw, Poland.

PS: 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain.
